In this piece Jesus is seen in the midst of the Pharisees answering their questions as to the lawfulness of paying the tribute to Caesar. His left hand is placed upon the hand of the Pharisee whom he is addressing; with his right hand he points upwards and says 'Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's and to God the things which be God's."
Rembrandt, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art.
